TikTok Coffee

If you’re like me, most of you have probably been scrolling mindlessly through TikTok for hours on end everyday because you have nothing better to do during this quarantine. Nope? Just me? ...Ok.

Regardless, you have probably by now seen or heard of the TikTok coffee trend that has been going viral and flooding everyone’s social media feeds. It’s a quick and simple, three-ingredient whipped coffee recipe that has been seen across many cultures — Dalgona coffee in Korean, Frappe coffee in Greek, and Beaten coffee in Indian. Incredibly fluffy, rich, and velvety, whipped coffee is an amazing way to vamp up your morning coffee routine. I decided to test out this recipe and provide some of the tips I’ve learned for perfecting the process below.

Recipe
  • 2 tbsp instant coffee mix

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 2 tbsp hot water

  • 1 cup milk

Instructions
  1. Boil water and add 2 tbsp to a medium bowl.

  2. Add in sugar and instant coffee mix.

  3. Add ice to a cup and pour in the milk of your choice (I like to use Trader Joe’s oat milk). This drink can also be served with hot milk.

  4. Spoon in coffee mix on top and stir with a straw.

For the best results, I’ve found that using granulated white sugar and Nescafé Classic instant coffee creates the best consistency. If you are whisking by hand, whisk in a wide-faced bowl using zig zag motions to aerate the mixture faster. The result is a delicious, cloud-like concoction to give you that morning boost.
